Back to School...

There are few experiences in a teacher's summer that bring pain. One of those experiences is getting the "back to school inservice letter." Another one is actually sitting in the inservice....today. We are now focusing our attentions on getting our classrooms ready and prepping our minds (and bodies) for active teaching. Pray for cool weather and happy children (both my biological and "adopted" freshmen)!

So...I need to write, huh?

After sobbing during a recent read of my incredibly gifted student teacher's narrative writing and poetry, I realized (with her encouragement) that I need to write more. I GRADE a lot of writing, but I haven't really given ye olde pen a workout creatively. Perhaps I have spent too much of my early writing career focusing on the angst of love and love lost. Perhaps I have spent too much of my latter writing career folding undies and making casseroles and being a teacher. Nonetheless, I shall write. I shall not write well at first...I am sure my creative juices will not flow readily. I will focus on the mundane with the hopes that my word choice will carry me through.
